In September 2006, the Industrial Safety and Health Act was amended, reducing the asbestos content threshold from 1% to 0.1%. Additionally, in February 2008, a notification from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare expanded the target asbestos types to six (chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, tremolite, actinolite, and anthophyllite).
